Metal Fabrication: How to TIG Weld Thin Sheet Metal Panels – 1960 Cadillac Restoration!!!

There are a lot of ways to join two pieces of metal, and several of them are different welding processes. While stick welding sheet metal is possible, it is probably the least effective and hardest to master. Gas, MIG, and TIG are all much better processes for joining two pieces of sheet metal but there are pros and cons to each. Because a MIG weld can sometimes be very hard, it isn’t always the preferred welding method for metal shapers. Because of this, TIG welding is often preferred. But how do you effectively weld thin sheet metal together?

There are a couple of different tactics and techniques that can be used and in this video Karl from Make it Kustom is going to show us just how he prefers to do it. He’s working on his wife Kristina’s Cadillac Coupe de Ville and there are plenty of patch panels to be made and finished.

Video Description:

On this episode of Make It Kustom, I am back on Kristina’S 1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville shaping more patch panels and tig welding them together. I cover my processes and techniques for tig welding sheet-metal.
