Model A Ford Chop: Tips, Tricks, And Secrets To Doing It Right The First Time!

I can’t get enough of other people chopping the tops on hot rods and customs. Maybe this is because I’ve never chopped a top myself, although it is definitely on the list of must-do mods. I will just have to find the right project to chop. I do love the late 40s and early 50s Chevy cars when they get a chop, and who doesn’t like a Model A Ford? Yeah, I’d love a chopped Model A and clearly so do a lot of other people since they are so popular. In this video from RAC Garage you’ll see part one of the Model A project chop. There are some cool tips, tricks, and tools used in this one and I like it.

Tools like the window jig that he uses to perfectly cut and align the doors can be invaluable because they not only make the job cleaner but also make the work quicker, which isn’t a bad thing either. And because the alignment is so good there is much less work required to weld it up and finish those welds.

In this video the chop is “done” and the car sees the light of day for the first time in a jillion years, and then the second video is all about how to finish the windshield posts the right way. Check them both out below.
