New Headlights & Bubble Skirts DRASTICALLY Improved Iron Trap’s 1939 Mercury “The Jersey Devil”

The 1939 Mercury project is really coming along now. It’s a proper car that runs and drives and looks awesome. I’m not a big fender skirts guy, but man it’s a slick looking ride. If it were mine I’d lower it and drive it, that’s it. In this episode of the build they are fixing the poorly done headlight conversion, installing some new wiring and then tackling the skirts. They had been on the car in the past, but one was in need of some love, so it got it.

This ’39 Mercury has fought Matt and the gang every step of the way, man is it coming together now. After saving it from an old garage, where it had been all but forgotten for decades, their attempts to get it back running just kept failing. No matter what they did it would not run and finally, Matt threw in the towel and decided that another engine was in order. Since then it’s gotten new exhaust, several other parts and pieces, and is now going on its maiden voyage down the road. I love this car and think it is awesome to watch this forgotten relic come back to life.

Video Description:

Since Matt first purchased this car, the horrible Halogen conversion headlights have been on the list to replace. Today we finally get to throw them in the trash and install the correct 39 head lights. Along with the lights, Steve has to replace the entire front headlight harness due to damaged insulation. While Steve is workin on the lights, Matt is going to work on the bubble skirts. The skirts were on a car at some point and one skirt has a bit of damage that will need to be addressed. Matt strips the paint off and gets to work hammering out the damage. After a few days of work on the wiring and the skirts, it’s time to roll it outside, step back and enjoy the view.
