When I was a teenager, I worked for my buddy’s dad at their auto glass shop during the summer and one of our mobile glass repair vehicles was a mail Jeep. Now I have a soft spot for them. So when Newbern first built his mail Jeep I dug it. It wasn’t perfect but it is pretty cool. With one ton axles swapped in, a V8 and big tires, it was definitely more capable than ever.
And now that he’s spent some more time on it the thing is considerably more powerful and capable. Check out the results below as he goes one further, does an engine swap for more power, and then takes this thing to Dennis Anderson’s Muddy Motorsports Park to go racing! How will the little Mail Jeep do?
Watch and find out.
Video Description:
Welcome to Newbern’s Garage! In this episode, we wrap up the engine swap on one of my old projects: a 1978 right-hand-drive Postal Jeep. My cousin Joey brings it back to the shop, and we install the ACE’S EFI system on the freshly swapped V8 engine. We also knock out a few more items on the to-do list to get this beast dialed in. This Jeep was originally built on an episode of Faster with Newbern and Cotten—which hasn’t even aired yet! Since then, Cousin Joey has taken it to a whole new level, and I gotta say… I’m loving it. With 1-ton axles, 40″ Mickey Thompson tires, a V8 under the hood, and a right-hand-drive setup, this Jeep is one wild ride. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more builds and behind-the-scenes action from the garage!
