PART 2: 1951 Mercury Chop Top Finishing Touches – Bello’s Shows How To Go About Cutting Down Interior Trim And Molding For A Finished Look

Here we go with Part 2 of the chop top trim finishing touches.

On several occasions I have seen cars at shows that are chopped, and look pretty good, but when you look inside they are either really unfinished or the interior trim looks like crap. It’s not easy to do a top chop, but sometimes the small details are the hardest part. In the video below we are going to see Bello tackle the interior garnish moldings on a 1951 Mercury that has been chopped. Because of the tight corners, formed beads, and flanges, it’s not as easy to get the small details right on the garnish moldings. Check out the video and see just how Mike does this and what you think.

Could you pull it off? Would you attempt it? I want to chop the top on something, so at some point I’m going to have to.
