The Barra/Granada Swap: A Quick Update About The Progress On This Malaise Restomod

Just because the engine dropped into place like it was designed to be there doesn’t mean that a green-top Ford Barra Six is going to settle into the engine bay of a 1970s Ford Granada easily, and it certainly won’t be easy when that engine is being mated up to a General Motors overdrive transmission. Unless you are going for a part-for-part swap, there will always be a little bit of custom work involved, and if you miss the mark by a couple of years, you might have to do some custom work anyways. It’s easy to yelp about how easy it is to swap any car, but once your hands get dirty, it becomes very real.

The guys at Fuel Injection Sucks have been doing the right thing the last couple of weeks, which is to stay at home and spin wrenches on the Granada. Details have been addressed, such as how the GM trans is going to be shifted with the Granada’s stock column shifter, the final details of the fuel system, and more. At the rate they are going, this Ford should be up and running by the time the coast is clear!

You got the wrong Granada! A Barra swap in a UK Granada coupe would be more like it but a Cosworth 24v dohc V6 would be even better.
