Of all the opinion columns we have read over the Mayfield mess this one, from NASCAR.com has the most blatant message of “Surrender Now!” that we have seen. We shouldn’t be suprised of tone like that coming from a “house organ”.
This thing is starting to get a real Vanishing Point feel to it. The masses seem to be pulling for the guy who has the odds stacked against him, knowing full well that the only way that the situation is going to end is badly. It’s not like the author’s basic points are wrong or off base, it just wreaks of propaganda coming from NASCAR.com
Kowalski didn’t make out too good at the end of Vanishing Point. Something tells us, Mayfield won’t fit between the bulldozers either.
