Ah, the Ford Pinto. Derided in its time as an underpowered rolling dose of Napalm, the venerable Pinto now enjoys cult status as a good start for a hot rod project. They were kind of weird looking in an awesome way as Pro Stockers. This clean, Cragar-equipped example we found at RacingJunk.com is a perfect platform to start wrenching on.
The seller has owned the car since 1985 and had it painted in 1986. Any buyer would appreciate the guy admits that it is a 20-footer. More importantly, he swapped a 302 and a 4-speed manual transmission out of a 1976 Mustang. He doesn’t get into details about any modifications to the engine but does say the car ran a tire smoking 14.1 second lap at the drags years ago. With only 2500 miles put on the car over the last couple years, this thing has not exactly been driven into the ground.
For $3,250, this thing is a great buy and seems like instant fun!
