Racing Junk Find: The Wildest Jeep in the West

Racing Junk Find: The Wildest Jeep in the West

Man, we have to find a way to hit the sand dunes some day. Why? Because bat poop crazy stuff like this Jeep packing a 600ci big blog is there. This baby must be able to throw sand grains into low Earth orbit. Volcanic ash causing those weird colors in the sky? Hell no, it is this Jeep at the dunes. The damned thing is street legal too, in California anyway.

Packed with a drivetrain that would be at home in any serious drag race car, the 598ci, pump gas burning mill is backed by a worked Power Glide, a Currie 9-inch that is filled with a spool, and beadlock wheels on all four corners. The front suspension is all custom built with tubular A-arms, and Fox coil over, remote resevoir shocks all around.

The seller has this monster registered for street use as a 1947 Jeep. He claims that you can unbolt the paddle tires from the rear, put the street meat on and hit the road. Considering that he says the Jeep has won numerous sand drag events, this baby is a player!

Bottom line? It needs to be on Drag Week 2011! Add a Gear Vendors and hit the road. Pick your class and let it eat!
