We can find any kind of reason to take our projects out onto the road and rack up the miles. We can go racing with our friends for a week or two. We can go check out a show that we haven’t seen before. Hell, I’ve racked up thousands of miles just because I could, no other reason needed. But right now there is a 1957 Chevy wagon that is hitting all of the lower 48 states in a bid to raise $100,000 in donations for the ALS Association. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease…call it what you will, but you are probably most familiar with the disease and what it can do if you’ve ever seen the late Stephen Hawking in action. In Hawking’s case, he had an early-onset, slow-progressing form of the disease that started to appear in 1963, but his case isn’t the normal. Usually, within five years from onset, the patient will die from the disease.
