Scientists Create Molecule-Sized Dragster

Scientists Create Molecule-Sized Dragster

Did you know there is a world of “nanocars” out there? A nanocar is a molecule-sized “robot” and they are being tested for use in the construction and actions of molecular machines. According to Nanowerk.com, the latest advancement in nanocars is the nanodragster.

The nanodragster is called a dragster because its structure sort of looks like a full size digger, with a wide axle and big tires on the back and smaller ones in the front. The rear wheels are called buckyballs and are made from “spheres of carbon containing 60 atoms apiece.” The nanomobiles can move around on a surface of gold after being subjected to heat or electricity. It seems that controlling them more perfectly is the goal.

Neat. Way above our heads, but neat.
