Cool Parts: Trans-Dapt Introduces “Swap In A Box” Kit For V8 S-10 Swaps – Everything You Need In One Place!

There’s currently one massive problem with V8 S-10 trucks. That problem? Neither Chad or I own one! Since taking a ride in a friend’s sleeper V8 S10 in college, I have been hooked on the idea of building my own. It has not comes to fruition as of yet, but there’s still plenty of time to make it happen. Heck, it will be a cool project to do with my boys when they get a little older. That may be a bad idea because the tire replacement bills would probably bankrupt our family. Frankly, that would happen with me driving, too.

The swap itself is pretty straight forward but there are specific parts needed, specifically the oil pan, headers, and engine mounts. Well, it just so happens that Trans Dapt, Hamburger’s, and Hedman Hedders are all part of the same company so it was a natural decision to combine their high quality parts into one kit that will allow you to bolt a small block into your S-10 with no hassle! You have options to choose from in headers, the kits are available for 2WD and 4WD trucks, and knowing these guys, you can trust that their components will fit right the first time. That’s how they roll.

The downside? We’re now out of excuses for NOT having a V8 S-10. Seems like we should get back to that idea again.

Whittier, Calif. (June, 2013) – Figuring out how to stuff a big engine into a small vehicle is the essence of hot rodding. But who says hot rodding should be limited to cars? Though the pint-sized Chevy S10 pickup never came with a V8 option, Trans-Dapt has made the task of swapping in a ’55-’79 Small Block Chevy a much simpler task with its V8 Into S-10 Engine “Swap-In-A-Box” Kits.

Trans Dapt’s V8 S-10 swap-in-a-box kit makes swapping a Small Block Chevy into your 1982-2004 two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive S10/S15 a piece of cake. Pooling the resources of the Hedman Performance Group, these kits come with everything needed to perform a complete engine swap. From Hedman Hedders, a set of 1 ½-inch shorty headers are designed to ensure proper clearance in the S10’s engine bay while maximizing exhaust flow for increased power and efficiency. Trans Dapt motor mounts and pads are also included in the kit, and were developed alongside the headers to ensure proper fitment. Finally, from Hamburger’s Performance, a new 7-quart, high performance oil pan with pickup was designed to clear the S10’s front cross-member. The pan’s integrated crankshaft scraper, windage tray and trap door baffles ensure the new engine receives a steady flow of engine oil, even under harsh competition conditions.

2WD S10/V8 Swap-in-a-Box kits are available for first generation Chevy small blocks with factory, angle plug, or D-port heads, while 4WD kits are available for factory heads only. Each “Swap-In-A-Box” kit offers you the option of Hedman’s standard-duty uncoated, standard-duty ceramic coated, or ELITE heavy-duty headers. The headers in these kits have an integrated ball-and-socket flange on the collector to provide a durable, gasket-free seal. All mounting hardware, gaskets and installation instructions are also included with the kit.

I guess that’s what Chevy guys need, all the parts and work figured out for them. Is this some difficult swap or something? I’ve had a 350/350 combo in my daily driver Chevy LUV pickup ( a Hardy kit) it was fun. I’ve had a 302/C4 set up in my Ford Courier (my own engineering), and now I’ve got the holy grail to me, a 360/904/narrowed 8.75 in a Plymouth Arrow pickup.
Car guys need a swap kit? Really?
