Jet Hot’s Awesome 1967 Nova Is Back In Action With Kurt Urban LS Power And Vastly Upgraded Suspension!

Jet Hot’s Awesome 1967 Nova Is Back In Action With Kurt Urban LS Power And Vastly Upgraded Suspension!

If you have attended any of the major pro touring autocross events across the country this season, no doubt that you’ve seen some of the fleet of “Jet Hot Test Cars” tearing around the course. The cars are all top shelf and packed with the latest in suspension, tire, and stopping technology. Well, the newest member of the fleet is an older member of the fleet that was given a set of upgrades that the Six Million Dollar Man would be jealous of. That’s right, the 1967 Nova that you were used to seeing carry the Jet Hot High Performance Coatings banner has been reborn.

The engine is a Kurt Urban naturally aspirated LS build. We’re not sure which variation of the LS it is or what the displacement works out to be, but we do know that the dyno video below shows us that it pulls like a freight train and word from the Jet Hot camp is that the car laid down 490hp at the tires after being properly tuned.

The suspension was completely revised by Detroit Speed. They literally took this car down to the bones and started from scratch. The pro touring world is advancing so rapidly that just patch working stuff here and there isn’t sensible anymore. Starting from jump street was the way to go and the result is a car that packs a massive amount of tire on the corners and a stance that just says, “try me”. Cheryl Herrick will be piloting this car and she already has been! They have had the Nova out on at least one road course and maybe more since it was completed by Detroit Speed. We’re sure that we’ll see it at SEMA and when we do, more detailed info and photos will follow.

For now, listen to this dyno pull. The motor sounds awesome and as we said, it is really strong. This car is more proof that Jet Hot is committed to being where enthusiasts are and that sure as hell is not behind a desk, it is in the field pounding on their stuff. You have to love a company with the same mentality as the hot rodding world!

Maybe. Unless you drive it. Or see it run. Or get beat by it. By a girl. A pretty blonde girl.
      Hurray for redefining “orthodox”!

Come on Bret! You couldn’t throw a cat at a Popular Hot Rodding photo shoot (or some Optima “Ultimate” event) without hitting all sorts of “Pro Touring” cars built to essentially the same formula. So sure, it’s “orthodox” within the narrow, charge-card rodder “Pro Touring” niche.

That’s fine, if you’ve got the budget and taste for it. Most grassroots Bangshifters, however, don’t.

Just because one hasn’t the budget the budget is no reason to throw stones. Your tastes on the other hand ….well….If you don’t have anything good to say ( especially about a well done car ) in good tastes you wouldn’t say anything at all. Or putting up a pic of your car to show us how it’s done.

Oh I’m sorry. I got confused.

Another dare-to-be-different, square-cut Chevy II with a Foose-style interpretation of Smokey Yunick livery, a power-adder-less LS, giant billet wheels and rubber band tires (partially skirted by the fenders almost like a ’50s Nash), and a catalog of $$$$ “pro touring” suspension . . . that just screams innovation and risk taking, doesn’t it? . . . .

  1. sick of pro touring

I wish pro touring would die already. I can appreciate the racing but where is the fun of throwing a bunch of bolt on parts at a car.
