We’ve recently shared a couple of videos from Richard Holdener that are all about building big blocks for big torque for a tow rig. If you missed them, I’ve got a link below you can use to see them too. All three big blocks in Richard’s two part series are traditional big block Chevrolets, whereas the one featured in this video with LT is a late model 8.1 based beast. I’ve been wanting to build a new big block for my square body Chevrolet Dually for the last couple years, and now that it has hurt itself I really need to get on it.

Of course, like all car guys I’m spending more time trying to decide what to do than actually doing it. I keep questioning whether or not I should build something new, upgrade what I’ve got, or to go buy a junkyard 8.1. And then here comes Richard Holdener with a couple of big block towing power videos and LT is following suit.

Can a gasser big block tow better than a diesel? We’re gonna modify this 8.1 big block and find out if we can make 600 lb.ft. of torque and 400 horsepower with a few simple bolt-ons! (if you consider a heads/cam/intake package bolt-on that is). The owner wants more power and torque for towing his camper, so we’re kicking off this mini build to find out.
