Check Out This Home Built Two-Speed Go Kart Transmission. You Can Make This!

Mini bikes and go-karts are a dream of many children. Some are lucky enough to get one, and some of us kids never grown up and want one regardless of age. With the abundance of cheap overhead valve engines like the Predator models, building a go-kart is more affordable than ever. That doesn’t keep us from dreaming of something motorcycle powered with multiple gears though. But maybe you can have gears and the cheap drivetrain. If you follow the instructions in this video you can in fact build your own 2-speed Go Kart transmission. We’d call it a Powerglide of course, but whatever you call it we think it will make a hell of a cool addition to any go kart project.

I saw these guys do this on youtube, very cool. I just thought it would be a lot easier to use 2 V belts. One is slack while the other is tight.Running on 2 different sized pulleys. Use some linkage so you move your lever and it slacks the now tight belt and tightens the then slack belt. You could get fancy and make a 3 speed with the v belts. Yep a multi speed cart when I was a kid would have been great. But, I broke my foot on mine with just a normal single speed clutch drive. extra speed would not have helped that day. Still this kinda stuff is very cool. Now some interprizing chinaman will see this .And you will be able to buy you go cart “Torque converter 2 speed combo” any time now .Free shipping and only $7.50 .
