The Borg Warner S480 is one hell of a turbocharger, capable of supporting big power and doing so with incredible reliability. We’ve made way over 1,000 horsepower with them on all kinds of engine combos and have beaten them like a rented mule on several race and street cars. No matter what the application, this is a turbocharger that can keep up with the loud pedal and promises big smiles if you have a combo even remotely capable of keeping up with it. It is not only a great choice from a performance and durability perspective, but also pretty good on price considering that you can find a billet version available for just over $1000.
Sure, there are cheap turbos out there that will make power and live if you treat them right, but with rare exception each of those turbos will be outshined by one of these S480 Borg Warners at the same or less boost. But how does it perform on specific combinations? Well thanks to our friend Richard Holdener, we have answers. Watch this new video from Richard and see what the S480 makes on three different LS combos and one big block Chevrolet. Any guesses on how much power each will make?
Big Block FTW!
