Is newer always better? Well…maybe. There are no shortage of modifications and parts to make both the Gen 4 LS3 and the Gen 5 LT1 into absolute fire breathers. Hell, the Gen 4 LS3 sets the bar for modern engine power potential, and for good reason. It’s got lots of great features that help it make real power, and features that help it support way more power than GM or anyone else would have ever believed. The architecture is sound and provides for a platform tailor made for big power production. But what about the Gen 5 LT1?
The LT1 is no slouch either, and absolutely thrives under boost and with big power as the goal. It’s newer, has a bunch more new technology and takes advantage of the best things GM learned on all the LS engines that came before the LT. But is newer always better?
Here is the video description from Richard.
6.2L LS3 VS 6.2L LT1, STOCK VS STOCK, MOD VS MOD, WHO MAKE MORE HP? FULL RESULTS. HOW DOES THE GEN 4, 6.2L LS3 COMPARE TO THE GEN 5, 6.2L LT1? HOW MUCH EXTRA POWER ARE THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT), HIGH-FLOW HEADS AND DIRECT INJECTION (WITH HIGHER COMPRESSION) REALLY WORTH? IN THIS VIDEO, WE COMPARED THE TWO ALL-ALUMINUM 6.2L MOTORS IN STOCK TRIM, THEN WITH SOME MODIFICATIONS. HOW WELL DO THEY RESPOND TO PERFORMANCE MODS? IS THE GEN 5 REALLY THE NEXT BIG THING IN LS/LT PERFORMANCE? IT’S ALL HERE.
