Newbern Helped His Neighbor Get This SS Chevelle Up And Running For Burnouts After Sitting For 40 Years And A Seized Small Block

There are lots of will it run videos out there of engines being started after sitting for years and years and years. But when an engine is actually stuck, or seized, the success rate goes down significantly. I have had seized engines run like a dream once they were unstuck, and I’ve had some that ran but were never happy. I’ve also had some that ran, but not for long as there were just too many things going against them. So for Newbern and the boys to actually unstick the small block in this 1965 Chevelle SS and then make it run well enough to do some really fun burnouts in the driveway, it great. And this thing sounds rowdy! It’s got a Muncie and a 12 bolt, so this thing is great fun in the making and we hope his neighbor gets it all ironed out so he can drive the hell out of it.

Video Description:

On this episode we pick up a sweet 1965 Chevelle that’s been sitting for four decades. My neighbor Bobby bought this car from a friend of his who drove it to high school. Its powered by a small block 327 backed by a Muncie 4 speed and has a 12 bolt rear end out back. The engine was locked up and someone at some point attempted to spin it over but had no luck. My buddy Wesley welded a socket to a plate and bolted the plate to the balancer so it wouldn’t damage the threads in the crankshaft. After soaking the cylinders and using a jack handle to turn the engine over it finally broke free.
