QUICK TECH VIDEO: PROPER FLAT TAPPET CAM BREAK IN PROCEDURE FROM COMP CAMS

While we know that this video is not advanced science, people screw up and wipe out flat tappet cams all the time. Incorrectly, people often cite the cam manufacturer for selling them a defective product, while it was actually their inability to follow directions and well documented procedures for breaking in their new camshaft. The folks at Comp Cams put together a really nice video that takes viewers through all of the necessary (and basic) steps for properly breaking in a new flat tappet cam.

Lots of times we get tips from people on vidoes and junk, but this item was inspired by a recent conversation with a younger BangShifter who had wrecked a nice new cam by following “advice” from someone who was talking completely out of their ass. The result was a motor full of metal and the crushed hopes of a budding hot rodder.

Press play below and pay attention for the next couple minutes. For the old salts out there this may be like the airline safety speach at the beginning of a flight, but for anyone interested in a cam swap or who may be in the midst of one now it could save you tons of money and your prized engine!
