I’ve shared videos from Workshop From Scratch before, and love his creativity. His lifting and lowering welding table, and his automated vice, are just two that I really dig and that you’ll see in this video. But this trike that he’s building is pretty cool too. It appears to be powered by a 250cc engine and transmission from a four-wheeler, because it has 4 forward gears, and reverse, which does make it kind of handy. In this video he’s going to use the four-wheeler parts and the front forks off a motorcycle and marries the two together to make something that looks like fun.

He’s got knobbies on the rear in this video, but I have to think this sucker is a real riot if you put some big pvc drift kart style hoops on the rear as well. It could be fun either way I’m sure. Because he is using all square tubing, there is not a need for a bender so most folks out there can relate to this one. If you had a tubing bender I think you could make it even faster, but the end result would be the same from a functional standpoint. Yes he does use a lathe and makes some parts that you could easily buy here in the states so if it were me I’d get things like an axle, hubs, etc online and then get after it. To me, this looks like a great Christmas break project for some kids and a parent, but Safety 3rd and all that so wear your helmet and some road rash preventers cause you are probably going to need them. We totally approve of this thing and hope someone out there builds one!

I used a 250cc engine for buid, the engine has four forward gears and a reverse gear, the wheels are derived from the quad bike, the front is from the motorcycle. I bought all the parts used from auction sites. I have no experience in building such vehicles, so the work on this trike motorcycle took some time, but the end result is satisfactory, riding this motorized trike is great fun 🙂
