The Wall Street Journal Breaks Down the GM Ceo Saga

With the news of the GM board’s ouster of Fritz Henderson just days ago, dozens of questions have been swirling about who will take over the position, when that will happen, and how bat crap crazy they’d need to be to take that job.

The Wall Street Journal ran a piece yesterday that breaks down the situation from several different angles. Points are raised that we had not even considered, such as the executive pay limitations that the company has to abide by and how that may keep some qualified candidates from taking the job.

The precedent set by the quick termination of Henderson may also leave some executives wary of the job. Henderson had the shortest stint of a GM CEO since 1912, that is not a record that anyone would want to break.

The board of directors is reportedly hell bent on bringing someone from outside the car business into the job where fresh ideas, philosophy, and management style may be the best thing for the times.
