Not Shocking News: There’s A Ferrari SUV On The Way – Took ‘Em Long Enough!

(By Tom Lohnes) – Well it’s official, Ferrari is making an SUV.

Spotted in the Italian alps, the Ferrari SUV supposedly called the Purosangue, looks to be a sleek competitor to Lamborghini’s Urus. The exterior is very camouflaged, so it is hard to figure looks out, but judging by the gaping grille, think Maserati Levante. Inside, Ferrari will use the Roma as a base, with screens replacing literally every control in the interior, save for the shifter. Power is most likely coming from a 3.9-liter Twin-Turbo V8 that currently makes anywhere from 590 to 780 horsepower in the Ferrari lineup, so expect there to be different versions with different amounts of power. What does this heavy SUV do to the brand’s reputation?

Well, Ferrari is trying to tap into the same niche Porsche broke open and every other exotics car maker is exploiting: People who want a Ferrari but don’t actually want a Ferrari. So, while we still lust after the F8 tributo and the SF90 Stradale, the Purosangue will be quietly existing in the background while simultaneously being the brand’s bestseller.

So, if the extremely Audi-based Lamborghini Urus isn’t Italian enough for you, the Ferrari Purosangue will gladly take your garage space. This will slot below the Portofino convertible as the new entry-level Ferrari and will start around $190,000.

Somewhere, Enzo is screaming about how the idiots he left in charge of his factory have decided to follow Lamborghini into the tractor market.

I would rather see one of the exotic car manufacturers turn out an SUV that pretends to be as ready for King of Hammers as their road cars pretend to be ready for Lime Rock. Lamborghini did pretty well with that with the LM-002, but there’s been nothing like it since. Unless you count Mercedes as exotic, as they are still turning out Geladenwagens and Unimogs.

“Somewhere, Enzo is screaming about how the idiots he left in charge of his factory have decided to follow Lamborghini into the tractor market.”

That is the horrible truth. I do believe, starting in this year 2021 in this country and the world, “pander” shall be the word of the decade and leaders who are in fact only followers trying to look like they’re in front shall be given all the credibility they can beg, buy or borrow by modern culture. The Corvette name, until GM/”gm” applies it to something as ridiculous, suddenly has better purity than Ferrari. Oh well, LOL.

A Ferrari shooting brake or station wagon might be cool. An SUV not so much, it’s just “me too”.

As much as I hate to say it – its about time Ferrari built a practical family/older people oriented car instead of track focused limited editions that are not even road and race legal. But I wish they would make a sedan to blast the German opposition into the weeds!

All this does is dilute the brand so some asshat can say he has a Ferrari. Is there nothing sacred anymore?

    1. WILL THEY ~PANDER` LIKE BMW?

      No
      They’re missing it by………..THAT MUCH.
      .
True Pandering, like BMW’s “we’ll sell to anyone ” strategy.
Sign on the line, drive home and stand out in the street with your beer buddies talkin’ about stuff you shouldn’t be saying.

If you could sign on the line, BMW didn’t care about prestige anymore.
      Just $ALES.
