They’re Going Fast: Six Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawks Were Stolen From The Plant Parking Lot!

The amount of gumption needed to break into an auto manufacturer’s holding lot to steal six brand-new, highly recognizable and desirable examples of a potent SUV is mind-blowing. But it’s recently happened…according to Allpar’s Patrick Rall, six Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUVs were stolen from the Jefferson North Assembly Plant on November 17th, 2017. Since that time, one of the Trackhawks has been recovered, and FCA is working with the Detroit Police Department to determine who did it and where the other five Hellcat-powered machines are at. In addition, FCA is adding “additional security measures” to make sure that another Memphis Raines-wannabe doesn’t try the same stunt.

With the amount of Hellcat Chargers and Challengers already out on the market (and in insurance lots in various stages of mangling), scoring the 6.2L Hellcat mill doesn’t seem to be the point behind the theft. Instead, this sounds like an order for the latest and greatest by an impatient individual, or an inside job by someone looking to capitalize on the impatient individual’s need to be the first with one. Either way…find these people and publicly flog them on the steps of Cobo Hall. Thieves suck.

The other five are currently hiding in the hold of an ore carrier heading east on the St. Lawrence Seaway… 🙂
