Unveiled: 2021 Dodge SRT Durango Hellcat, Charger Redeye, and Challenger Super Stock

Unveiled: 2021 Dodge SRT Durango Hellcat, Charger Redeye, and Challenger Super Stock

First, we got the Hellcat twins. 707 horsepower in 2015 was a bomb blast to the automotive world. Prior to that, Ford had blessed the Shelby GT500 with 662 horsepower and FCA looked to be circling the drain. My, how times have changed in those five years. Dodge could’ve stopped with the Hellcats. They were radical in all of the right ways. They had enough power to cross up even the most jaded hot-shoe, enough power that the average, everyday Joe would think twice about making the purchase, and enough power that tire manufacturers began salivating uncontrollably. Then came the steps: the unbelievably unholy SRT Demon, a very limited-production drag package car that came with a crate of goodies to turn it into a no-shit strip monster. Can you think of a car in the last thirty years that came with the technology to run race fuel already installed, AND came with a warranty? I didn’t think so. Then the RedEye Challenger came…let’s add ninety more horsepower to the equation of the standard Hellcat, because why the hell not. And until now, that’s where we’ve stood: pushing 800 horsepower in production coupes, 717 in production sedans. Dodge could’ve sat back and have been done. The end. Enjoy the power, raise hell.

Nope.

Three more vehicles have been unveiled, coming for 2021: the Durango SRT Hellcat, the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, and the Challenger SRT Super Stock. One is the ultimate tow vehicle, a people-hauling wagon that can kick the teeth in on most anything on the road on an average Friday night, which is actually kind of sad because FCA has made good that this will be a one-year-only deal. One is a four-door sedan that is somewhere between “Hello, officer, what seems to be the problem?” and the bouncer at the club the precise moment before fist meets face and you see stars in real-time. And the third…well, it’s not the Demon, but it’s as close as you’ll get without hunting high-end auto auctions looking for deals on flippers. Dodge quit playing games years ago. Now, they’re marching on like an army mad with power. Conquer all, no quarter, no mercy. There’s one more version that we know of coming, the Ram Rebel TRX, and we’ll still hope and pray that a limited run of Chrysler 300s are made at some point. We can dream, but it’s not like we could ask for more, because FCA is handing out a gearhead’s high left, right and center. All hail the Hemi.
