Mike Cook’s yearly Bonneville Shootout normally brings out amazing performances from some of the fastest vehicles on Earth. This year it brought that and an awesome video, made by ESPN profiling the competitors who were all trying to make history in or ontop of their rides.

This video also serves as an awesome illustration on how tough it is to make a car or motorcycle achieve the speeds that these racers do and have it live. Virtually everyone in the video experiences a mechanical failure of some kind during the film. When you are pushing the limits of human engineering, these are the consequences.
