We’ve long been fans of Brian Darwas and both his hot rods and his films. He’s documented some cool stuff like cars cruising across the country to Bonneville, ancient motorcycles racing vast distances, and great stories of the car culture in different parts of the county like this last release, “This is Long Beach”. His films, to this point have been about everything BUT him. With this newest upcoming release, he plans to change that. Livin’ It documents Darwas’s life and his passions which are essentially traditional hot rods and film making.

In this preview you’ll see Darwas metal working, cruising his coupe, and talking straight into the camera. His shop is based in NY and it looks like the footage of Darwas in his hot rod was filmed during the winter. It has grey tint and feeling to it, especially with the leafless trees and nondescript industrial buildings he is rolling past. Darwas has always had a good eye for the dramatic and he captured it in those scenes with the well used looking ’32 looking like the only colorized thing in an old black and white movie. He achieved the effect just by using the backdrop. That’s pretty bad ass.
