They are games borne at lunchtime or out of bets made at the local watering hole after everyone has left the joist. They are contests of skill designed to separate those that can do from those that can do really, really well. These are the types of things that seem easy by the definition of regular folks but in reality, they are extremely difficult and require levels of skill that no guy or girl off the street is going to possess. If you think what you are seeing in this video looks easy, you are right. It does LOOK easy. The operator performing the trick has likely been doing it for 20 years.
My dad and grandfather operated a pallet and box business for years and years. One of the many tricks that my pop could perform on a forklift was flipping a quarter off the ground and onto the fork using nothing but the fork of the machine. Later when I was working and running warehousing operations, I spent plenty of time perfecting that one on a forklift as well.
That’s kids play as compared to this one. Getting the blade to hook the tire is one thing but then lining it up and shaking it off is another. All a very deft touch and a very neat thing to watch when you see a machine doing something that it was never really intended to do in the first place.
We’re not sure if this won the operator a free beer or $10 bucks but it certainly won him our respect. This is cool!
