As most people know, Danica Patrick is the leading spokesperson/mug on camera for GoDaddy.com. They have done some interesting television advertising in years past with Patrick but this one may take the cake. Patrick appears as several iconic movie stars in the latest ad, most notably Marilyn Monroe. While she looks great in the form fitting leather jacket, Marilyn Monroe she ain’t.

This ad really brings the paradox that many female racers face. On the one hand they want and need to be recognized for their racing talents, but on the other, their looks can be a major selling point for potential sponsors/backers to advance their career. Male racing drivers endorse junk all the time, make corny, lame commercials, and everyone passes it off as just part of the job. When female racers do it, they get derided and their talent is called into question. Double standard? You bet!

We respect the hell out of Patrick for her ability to drive a race car. No doubt she’s make us look like fearful grandmothers on a race track. No contest, game over. Unfortunately, far too many race fans will see and ad like the one below and immediately jump on the hate train.And, if they missed the other corny-sexy Danica vids, well, we’re sure they will watch them here. Several times.

To the haters, we’d remind them that she’s way faster than they are. Like it or not.
