Two-stroke Detroit Diesel engines are neat and in their many configurations they have provided reliable grunt for decades in hundreds of applications. The mighty sixteen cylinder examples were the largest engines to see road going duty in large industrial trucks and equipment. Sixteen cylinders weren’t enough for the guy who commissioned a one-off 24 cylinder beast that turned the dyno for nearly 3,000 hp.
The large Santa Clause looking fellow in the video is kind of annoying, but that all melts away when this monster gets started and run on the dyno. We assume that this engine is headed for a boat. That’s the only thing it’ll fit in!
