Drag Racing Sucks: Watch Dyson Vacuum Engineers Build and Race Mini Dragsters Made Out of Old Parts

It seems that everyone we have ever talked to that owns a Dyson vacuum raves about it. They are known for being super powerful and of very high quality. If you have ever priced them out, you know that they live at the upper end of the vacuum price chart. Logically, the reasons for this are superior design, construction, and engineering and after seeing the video below you’ll see how they keep their employees entertained and motivated.

Apparently, Dyson had an internal company contest among the engineering staff to build and race mini drag cars. With more than 650 people involved in the contest the entries ranged from tiny little racers that nearly fit in the hand of a normal sized man to machines large enough for the operator to actually ride on it!

There’s a reason that companies like Google and Dyson push the envelope of their respective industries. Having motivated people that can create and enjoy what they are doing at work is worth a lot more than chaining some dude to a desk under florescent lights for 12 hours a day. We have a hard time believing that this type of stuff is happening at other companies making vacuums. Funny thing is, these engineers probably came out of this fun exercise with a better understanding and knowledge of the components of the products they are designing and refining!
