Oh yeah, Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week prep is in full swing all over the country. Some guys are still cutting and welding, others are making test hits on the strip, and still others have tweaked combos and are sorting them on the dyno before trying to put in some street miles to get the parts and pieces acclimated with one another before the event in September. Larry Larson’s proven formula of “drive your junk” seems to have finally reached the ears of more competitors as we’ve heard stories of guys from daily driver to unlimited already road tripping their cars. In theory, that means better running cars on DW…but nothing ever goes according to the theory on DW, so you make the call.

Tom Bailey made a strong showing before having to bow out last year with valvetrain issues. In fact, Bailey made it to the last day of the event and although he was eliminated he asked to make laps and was granted the ability to do so. He dropped a bombshell 6.90 pass on the Tulsa masses and basically let everyone know that he planned to come back and make some noise in 2013.

This video is further proof. Filmed by engine builder Steve Morris at his shop, the video walks us through the changes that have been made on the car since last year like the switch to Holley EFI. He also talks about the plans he and Bailey have to get themselves and the car ready for the 2013 event in terms of driving and testing. Finally, he let’s the car eat on the dyno, feeding it 26lbs of boost and churning out an incredible 2,108hp at the tires. Sweet blessed mother of acceleration….this is going to be AWESOME.
