Let’s face it, most of us won’t ever own an engine that makes more than 960hp on the dyno. It is a simple fact and it makes those engines something pretty special to check out. What makes a 960hp engine even more special is when all of that power comes from a grand total 173ci. Yes, 2.8 effing liters of four banger Ford owned by the famed Hubers and tuned up by our pal Scott Clark. Hopefully we’re not killing this video by telling you that nothing completely unremarkable happens when the throttle is opened to the WFO position. Hey, this little engine makes all of its power before 8,000 RPM!

The Hubers have been racing four cylinder Fords for ages and they keep getting better and faster. Clark is a tuner and pays his bills traveling the country to wring horsepower and efficiency out of engines ranging from this little four banger to big inch V8s. We’ve seen him work his magic before with the likes of the Bartons, Gary Hart, and and a pile of Drag Week competitors, including the Hubers.

We’ve got a ton of respect for little engines that make huge power and don’t split in half or melt down. With the people involved in this deal, we’re sure it will be bringing the terror to a strip near you soon! We don’t know what it is going into, but if you are choosing off a race, avoid the Mustang with the higher pitched exhaust note. They’ll show you their ass faster than you can wonder what the hell just happened.
