Typically when we hear about LS engines they are in the “normal” small block displacement parameters. You know, between 350 and 430 inches. Well due to the availability of aftermarket blocks like the one used in this engine from RHS, no one is really limited to stock displacements any longer. In fact, you can go right from mouse to rat territory with a block that has more meat to bore into and more deck height to reach for. Case in point, this engine you are about to see go to work is 502ci. While we’re not sure if that is the “largest” LS engine one car built we know it is damned big and when the power numbers are an announced 881hp at over 7,000 RPM in naturally aspirated form, it seems that the grander scale LS engine is just as much of a bruiser than its little brother.

This is a cool looking piece with its intimidating twin throttle bodies jutting from the front of the mill. Built by Late Model Engines, the engine uses a COMP Cam, Lunati rods, Wiseco pistons, and RHS heads. The block is the tall deck aluminum RHS piece that allows for the 500+ ci displacement. With 881hp coming out of the mill with no help from boost, our mind reels at the possibilities a couple of turbos would unearth. This thing could make an honest 2,000hp or damned close to it being force fed. We’re not sure what the ultimate plan for the engine is, but we’re going to keep an eye out. This thing could really make some noise with boost. Even without, it is a hulking bastard!
