If you think my slightly irrational hatred of the Ford Granada and it’s twin Mercury Monarch is a bit over the edge, wait until we talk about their upscale sibling, the Lincoln Versailles. All the Versailles ever amounted to was to be a Granada that reeked of gingerbread. I’d make suggestions about just how much of an Iacocca car this really was, from it’s padded roof to it’s Rolls-Royce ripoff grille, but unlike it’s siblings, the Versailles has one great reason for existing: they are a treasure trove of Ford parts. Need a small-block? Take your pick, 302 or 351. You’re getting a C4 automatic regardless of engine selection. But the biggest benefit to raiding a Versailles is the disc brake 9-inch rear axle. That’s the winner.
I’ve been following all of the builds the “Rust Avengers”, a collective of YouTubers I’m familiar with, have been preparing for this year’s Hot Rod Power Tour. Mike, from Classic Mustangs 429, has been relatively quiet on his work up until now. We’ve seen a Ford Fairlane in his last video, but he’s also hinting at another Mustang and a Mercury Comet as well. We don’t know what all he’s got planned and he isn’t saying too much on the subject. But at least he will have a great bit of kit to get whatever he chooses running and moving!
“Polishing a turd” just doesn’t do it justice. You are correct BMT.
