Ah, impressionable youth. It’s the reason why I dig shovel-nosed second-gen Camaros…I saw a car that I immediately adored and it’s stuck with me ever since. The same goes for Icelander Sigfús B. Sverrisson. On a trip to the United States as a youth, he first saw a Chevrolet Corvette, and was hooked like none other. He had to have one, and a few years down the road he got one. Then he made the mistake that most people say they will never do, but do anyways: he sold the car. And once he realized the mistake, he replaced it with the one year of ‘Vette that most gearheads would avoid like the plague: a 1982, the last year of the C3 body style. Due to a combination of low power, a connection to disco that had gotten to comfy and a body design that had been around since 1968, by the end of the C3 program everybody wanted a change. But to Sigfús, this was the ideal car. No emblems, no gingerbread, just that Mako Shark shape in it’s final evolution. At least car collectors won’t panic over the Corvette’s mileage, because Sigfús intends to drive this car as much as he can.
Wow, two of the world’s greatest things: C3 Corvettes and Iceland!
