For quite a bit of time now, most of what we’ve seen out of Mike Finnegan has involved his 1955 Chevrolet, “Blasphemi”, and his racing trips that occur in-between rebuilds of the surprisingly fragile Hemi in the engine bay. Many times we’ve seen the car pull the wheels, and many times we’ve learned about the engine trying to compress coolant when it isn’t supposed to. So it’s a nice change of pace to see Finnegan getting back to a project vehicle that we haven’t seen or heard much about in quite some time: his twin-turbo jet boat known as “Game Over”. We haven’t really seen or heard much about this floating test of the Human Self-Preservation Instinct since we saw it at SEMA three years ago (holy crap, it’s been that long?!) but we’ve always been curious as to when he’s going to actually pin the throttles and let that 711 cubic inch monster that’s sitting behind his head go for broke…mainly, because we want to see the GoPro footage of the moment that the boost hits and that dude’s eyes open as wide as possible.
Unfortunately, we’re still a ways away from Game Over seeing water. You see, the boat had to be at SEMA…which meant that you can cue the “SEMA crunch” build jokes. At least Mike is owning up to them and is fixing them before the trials begin. In this case, the boat’s steering system needed to be addressed after some “gotta make it look finished” hackery was cleared up. Bring out the TIG welder, learn how to weld on aluminum plate, and follow along as Mike gets closer to learning how quickly the human body can properly void it’s bowels!
Looking forward to seeing the boat up and running in 2020.
