Gravity Always Wins: Motocross Plinko At The Andler Hillclimb!

Gravity Always Wins: Motocross Plinko At The Andler Hillclimb!

Over the years, we’ve shown you videos of both rockbouncers and Formula Offroad racers doing their thing. We’ll happily admit that both disciplines are about as mental as it gets…one rollcage, maybe some bodywork, an angry engine, two very beefy axles and four tires digging in as the driver proceeds to make an absolute mockery of Sir Issac Newton’s law of gravity. Whether it’s a Jeep driving along the slope of a hill before making a sharp right turn and leaping into the sky or a rock buggy shooting straight up a cliff only to come up short and bounce back down to the starting point below like some twisted mind’s version of “Plinko”, both Formula Offroad and rockbouncing have one thing in common: the driver is surrounded by a stout cage and is strapped down into the seat firmly.

Motorcycle hillclimbing…that’s different. There is no rollbar, no cage, no straps keeping you on the machine for the ride. Instead you and the big brass ones you brought along with you get to mess with your brain: you hop off of the bike at the first sign of uncontrollability and you hope that you make it to the bottom unscathed. One of the most notorious hillclimbs in the world is the Andler/Schönberg climb in Belgium. It starts out as rough gravel and switches over to a washboard of rough cliff face that is designed to send riders flying and bikes tumbling back down to the bottom of the trail.

Why try out a killer hill? All you need to do is think about what life will be like once you’re the one to crest this monster. It’s a pleasant thought as you’re picking up the pieces of the bike that you yard sale’d down the hill, isn’t it?
