Hear The New TVR’s Ford Coyote-Based, Cosworth-Tweaked V8 Start And Run A Simulated Lap Of LeMans

Bringing an automotive brand back from the dead doesn’t just take money by the semi-truck load, it takes engineering, testing and a solid plan to make the resurgent car successful after the novelty of the return has worn off. TVR’s return has been met with cautious optimism…the brand has had a rocky past and has collapsed twice, but when Gordan Murray and Cosworth have signed on to help develop the new car (code named T37), we can pay attention. And it appears that our early optimism is starting to pay off. Here, in a video posted by Autocar, is engine #1 on it’s first dyno run. Based on Ford’s Coyote block and massaged by Cosworth, this isn’t the street car’s engine. This TVR block will be in the LeMans entry for 2017 and will be downtuned for street-car duties. Considering that all 250 2017 TVRs have been sold out, even before a preview of T37 has been revealed, there is certainly a desire to see the cars in action and coming out swinging at LeMans has to be one of the best ways to do it. Here’s hoping the plans survive to fruition, because this bullet promises to be awesome.

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

It’s nice to see that TVR didn’t go down the LS route when selecting an engine for their reborn cars!

I think that a Cosworth/Shelby Mustang would be AWESOME – and it would relaunch the great tradition of Cosworth Fords. Another exciting idea would be for Ford to join up with Kugel Industries and unleash a batch of V8 Cosworth Focuses using their RWD transplant kits

    So get to it Ford…..
