Hellacious Burnout Video: A Tire Smoldering 330-Foot Smoker From Tony Boss Bynes

There was a time when showmanship was a very large part of the deal in drag racing. From paint to wild crew uniforms, to back up girls with all kinds of appendages hanging out in the breeze, and burnouts to the scoreboards the show was king. Drivers became known for different things. Jungle Jim would roll nearly to the finish line after a burnout and then backup at breakneck speeds, John “Brute” Force was known for smoking the tires longer and harder than anyone else. That fact that entered the hot rodding lexicon with the term, “a John Force burnout”, other guys wore crazy helmets, and did various things to set themselves apart.

We’re not sure if Tony “Boss” Bynes did this to win a bet, hark back to drag racing’s more flamboyant days, or just wanted to fry the living daylights of the slicks on his Camaro, but he lays down an awesome 330’+ burn that may have created its own hole in the ozone layer on top of Mississippi Motorsports Park.

Performing a burnout like this is a lot harder than it looks. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of videos on YouTube that show people wrecking while trying to complete a long burnout. The car wants to swap ends the whole time and by the burnout is done you’ve got a good head of steam going. Bynes looks like a pro and keeps a good handle on the car while performing this epic burnout. The car sounds absolutely killer, too. We’re thinking that there are lots of cubic inches and (when on a run) lots of nitrous at work in this car. Bad ass!
