Joke’s Over: Holley Puts Their Sky-Ram Intake Manifold To The Test At Westech!

Joke’s Over: Holley Puts Their Sky-Ram Intake Manifold To The Test At Westech!

Holley’s line of intake manifolds for the LS engine series have been proven performers for years. The company has a whole range of them, from pancake-flat so they can hide under the hood of a Corvette or Camaro, to the bolt-upright Hi-Ram. But this year, for April Fools’ Day, they outdid themselves by taking the Hi-Ram design and lengthening the intake runners about thirty inches. They call it the Sky-Ram and no, it’s no computer rendering, this puppy exists. It’s a 3D-printed unit, made out of composites that the company uses to prototype and test parts. It’s actually two separate printings, joined together with All-Thread in the runners for strength and bonded to seal the join. Since it’s based on the Holley intake, that means the upper plenum design can use just about every upper intake possible, including Holley’s previous April Fools’ Day prank, the NOS “Moonshot” nitrous system.

The second this joke was unleashed to the public, the calls came out: Dyno this beast! Well, wait no more. Holley packaged up the Sky-Ram and sent it to Westech, where Steve Brulé and Evan Perkins put it to the test. You want to know what a Viagra-infused intake can do on the dyno? Here’s your chance!

And for those who want to know, no, they did not test the Moonshot. Two reasons: One, it wouldn’t fit into the dyno cell. Two, all that nitrous all at once on an unsuspecting LS would turn the engine block into an M67 fragmentation grenade. The fireball from that nitrous backfire would be seen from Manhattan Beach.

Instead of Holley dicking around with this crap, how about making some traditional manifolds that have been unavailable for the past two years.

Holley is THE BEST in the business. If they don’t make what you are looking for anymore, then your platform is probably garbage.

Yeah right. Go to Jegs or Summit and try to buy an alum. intake for anything.
Almost nothing available, just the unimportant stuff. Ship dates change weekly.

Gee, give these idiots some other monstrosity to stick on top of the engine.

I would love to see a version of this on an IDI non turbo Ford diesel engine from the late 80s with a side-by-side comparison to a stock-style manifold. I dont think theres a market I think the power band would align with a diesel?
