From the moment I saw a Holden Monaro go so hard that it was breathing purple fire out of the pipes by the time the show was over, Australian-style burnout contests were going to be a thing in my world. Why? Because the difference between an Aussie-rules burnout contest and the fun that we were having in the yard back in the day was literally just some safety rules. We’ve heard you, it’s not for everyone. But for some, it’s the only way to go. Sending the tach needle to the far end of the scale and sending the tires straight to Hell is a release that you need to experience at least once in your life.

The second of Cleetus’s big events that he’s been able to put together for his viewing audience was the Summit Racing-sponsored Burnout Rivals. After cleaning up the Freedom Factory, one of the big deals that he wanted to have was a full-deal burnout pad, and that’s certainly after his trip to Summernats with his “Toast” Camaro, where he dove into the fire face-first, trying his hand at the deal in front of the Australians. Now that he’s got his own race track, he’s got his own events, and he’s throwing down a challenge with other folks from the Internet to see who has the the biggest brass ones in the skidpan.
