Morning Symphony: Listen To These BMW M3s Rip Up A Tight Drift Course!

For this morning’s aural treat, we are going straight to the sharp howl of the E36 series BMW M3’s 3.2L inline-six. If you want to see what true brand loyalty looks like, ask a BMW fan about this motor and what it means to them. Used between 1990 and 1996, the S50 series six was the heart, soul, guts and balls that made up a lot of what made the M3 so good to drive. Be prepared to hear highly detailed stats and pointers during the explanation.

We aren’t interested in anything more than the following: the S50 likes turbocharging, can take a beating, and is a smooth runner that delivers. Shoved into a well-lightened chassis and the BMW becomes the Ultimate Dancing Partner, going wherever the driver points the wheels with grace and as much civility as racing events offer. If you really need proof of how good these cars can be, click on the video below and watch what a well-prepared E36 can do on one of the narrowest drift circuits we’ve seen. Space is a commodity in Italy, and those narrow roads don’t allow for a mistake or a surprise to happen without punishment…
