There’s just something about a finely tuned, properly built, natural aspirated big block engine making four digit power on the dyno. This particular monster is a 632ci Ford big block that runs on alcohol and was designed and built to go truck pulling. CNC-Motorsports of South Dakota is the builder of this piece and they give both a walk around and some dyno rip action to show off its power making capabilities.
We live in an awesome age for making horsepower. This engine has a load of Trick Flow parts bolted to it. The cast tunnel ram, the cylinder heads, and on and on. The amount of development and research that have gone into parts like this means that when the budget and the situation call for it, anyone can call and engine builder and have something like this monster constructed for them.
Pulling engines are interesting because while they have needs and live lives similar to drag racing engines, there are some differences. The ever increasing load of the sled, the fact that they operate at high RPM and low speed, and the fact that they spend a long time at WOT with a massive load hanging on their backs mean that engine builders in the pulling world need to be on their game to make sure the crank, the smoke, and the fire all stay inside.
This is a great engine and you’ll learn all about it during the walk around and then the dyno pulls. OOGA BOOGA!
Always liked the BBF’s. They pretty recognizable at the strip. Nothing has a deeper tone. 705 lb ft at 3000 rpm? What a stump puller!
Thanks a lot for this.
