Sometimes Driving Accessories Is Far From Easy: Watch How This Flex Shaft Drive Unit Was Made

Sometimes fitting everything under the hood of a project can be incredibly difficult and require some pretty interesting solutions when trying to drive all your accessories. Belts and shafts and electric motors have been used in a variety of configurations to drive everything from AC compressors to power steering pumps, alternators and even fuel pumps. But sometimes no off the shelf or readily available accessory drive solution will help no matter how good they are. Such was the case on Project Binky, when the boys tried to fit an AC compressor where one never had been, and also tried to relocate an alternator to one of the only available locations. Unfortunately that location doesn’t allow for any belt or traditional shaft drive system.

But all is not lost!

Nope, the Bad Obsession Motorsports crew rallied their best ideas and spent untold hours machining up this bitchin little FLEXIBLE shaft system. It is so simple, and yet so trick. It requires some serious measuring and planning and execution to get right but man these boys nailed it.
