Way back in 2009 I was asked by John Naderi of Streefire to come out and shoot some video at Irwindale for a Scion Drift Team Test session. Turns out they were giving rides to some Rockstar Energy guys, as well as some members of the media. The security and safety guys were pretty serious, but that didn’t stop Tanner Foust and Ken Guchi from helping me out with some “close up” camera work. We all got yelled at, me especially, but I certainly got the shot. No camera tricks here, the donuts are real and the camera is as wide as the shot will get. I could have reached out and touched both cars at points during the donuts. Watch it. You’ll like it.
Tanner’s Scion RSR had an Ed Pink Toyota Cup Car engine in it with a T10 based trans and quick change rear. Ken’s was much the same except for the turbo charged Scion motor under the hood.
