Ramble On: Watch As This Rambler Hornet Throws Down On The Skidpad!

When sold in Australia, the Rambler Hornet was more or less a luxury option. Think about that for a second: American Motors’ compact car, in sedan form, packing only inline-six power, was a luxury car. No four-speed, only automatics, and a full PBR braking system that could be found on Trans Am racing Javelins. Look at a similar vintage Ford Falcon or Holden Kingswood and it becomes even more of a head-scratcher. How did the Hornet get that kind of prestige? It was AMC’s best foot forward, yeah, but still…this is the same car that spawned the Gremlin.

Well, whatever….Australians got less than two thousand of them and either they’re long gone or they resemble “HATE LAG”, the car you’ll see hit the skidpad. The six certainly hit the bin in favor of a small block (we’re betting Ford) and like most anything else over there with a blower on it, the tires didn’t have a prayer from the moment the engine lit off.
