This week we’ve been running a series of videos about a father and son, Jim and Ryan, who found and bought back an old racecar they had built years before, dragged it home, put a new engine together for it, got it up and running and working, and are now taking it out testing. The difference between now and the first time they built the car? This time son Ryan will be piloting the thing, and if the smile on his face in Part 3 is any indication, he’s digging it. Oh, and the rumor is that dear old dad Jim, who said he was personally done drag racing, is putting together another car now. Oh, and the wagon is getting more power. But don’t tell anyone, cause we weren’t supposed to say anything. Shhhhhh it will be our secret.
Cool story. Memories of me and my dad building my first hot rod. He professed to not care much for hot rods, but he sure did have a big ole grin after he test drove it.
When the day fades, the money is gone, the cars have been sold, and we are gone – the memories we make with our children remain and we become the richest people ever.
What a nice story!
I hope they took lots of pictures so the grand kids can see this project.
Knocked it out of the Park . Very well done I would like to see Part Four !
I get the feeling the son doesnt know much about cars from watching all 3. Better late than never. Neat video, great memories…good stuff.
These vids kicked A, these guys seemed like the racers you’d want to have a sociable with after a day in the trenches.
Brilliant.
I’m jealous … my father died in 2010
what I would give for 1 day at the track with him
Great vids, thanks!
As of today, I haven’t passed on.
Health concerns keep me down, at least for now. Many of you older guys know what it’s like to crawl under a car (worse, getting back up) or loading/unloading/loading everything involved, unassisted.
I’d just love for my kids to take over the C1BAD66 Malibu. Hell, I’ll fund the racing. but, alas, they’re not really racing kinda guys…
But, life styles, jobs, and living locations change. One needs to have a real flexible schedule even to race locally.
I’m at the decision point as to whether to take dimes on the dollar for it or imagine what they’ll do with it when I pass…
If none of the kids are into the car,you should sell sell it cuz you know whats it worth more than them,I’m sorry n sad that none of them got the bug of racing,my dad had the knowledge but no time or money and he had passed away the year before i got my grand national so i hope he was watchin from up above when i was racing.Hopefully the kid in this video gets rid of his tude n throughly enjoys his time with his dad at the dragstrip!!! While he still has a dad to do things with!
