Slogging Insanity Video: The Lawless Muck Filled Start to the 2011 Baja 1000

While I have never personally been to the Baja 1000, Chad has and the stories are pretty amazing. The beginning stages of the race are normally crowded with people all hoping to get a first hand look at some of the fastest and most powerful off road racing vehicles in the world. This year was a wet one in Ensenada and the racers had to haul the mail down what appears to be some sort of run off or drainage culvert. Either way, it was filled with a gumbo like mud than even the boys in the southeastern US could appreciate.

You’ll actually see one guy get run over by a truck, or more accurately, trapped underneath one that decides to run up on the banks of the culvert to avoid the deep stuff. Since the people are standing right on top of the track, they all scatter, but one dude was the slow member of the herd and paid the price.

We dig the little Baja Bugs slogging through and the few full size trucks that just went hammer down right through the deepest part of this Mexican ‘sippi hole!

Press play and bring a rag to wipe the mud off your face!
