Supercharged Suicide: Adding A Blower To A Hot-Rodded Power Wheels

Behold, the blower. If turbochargers are the thinking man’s way of increasing the air in the cylinders on each stroke, and if nitrous is witchcraft, then the supercharger is the blunt-force trauma instrument. Two rotors, with the crankshaft doing all of the work. Push it harder and it provides more and more. Are turbochargers more efficient? Of course. Does nitrous pack a bigger kick? More or less. But there is something about blower whine, there is something about boost, and there is something about that case standing tall and proud above the engine, isn’t there? The supercharger can make any engine a hero. You can have one on a snowmobile and you’ll rip the frosted hills and dales a new one. Slap a blower on a Honda K mill and put the X-rated into your CRX, And no hot rodder needs an introduction on what a big-ass case can do for anything with eight pistons arrainged in a V-formation.

But what about a Power Wheels? Well, since Grind Hard Plumbing Co.’s “Sendy” Jeep has taken on the role of development mule in a way, it seems to be the perfect time to slap a blower onto the little pink toy Jeep’s KTM engine. Might be the perfect time to get Travis Pastrana involved as well…he knows a thing or two about risking life and limb!
