The Carfection Team Look Back On The Making Of Their Ford GT Celebration Video

For every bit of polished product that is put out in the automotive world, there is a ton of work going on behind the scenes to make things happen, and there are stories that usually don’t see the light of day that are worth telling, usually for the humor alone. Normally, this is what you get when you personally know someone in the business and get them talking over dinner or a beer, but Alex and Drew from Carfection (formerly XCAR) have been going through some of their older videos, adding commentary…usually, with the help of some tasty beverages to stimulate the memory a bit. Drew likes to provide some of the technical details involved with the filming of the videos that Carfection puts out, while Alex is happy to expand upon the cars, the stories behind them, and the joys of managing to bring in vehicles whose values mimic lottery winnings together for a YouTube show.

For this episode, they are discussing one of the first films we saw of theirs, where they brought together a Ford GT, a Ford GT40 (specifically, a Mk.III road car), and one of the stillborn GT70 rally prototypes. All three cars are unique, have history, and two out of the three are extremely desirable. (Being honest, if it weren’t for these guys, we’d never know that the GT70 even existed.) The Ford Heritage folks allowed the cars to be taken to Castle Combe to be driven, and they were. But you know as well as we do: a beer or two into the story and the honesty that is normally reserved starts flying out, whether it’s Alex berating Drew for his driving skills or the true opinion of the GT70’s behavior. We love it, and hopefully you do too.
